Rafting in Antique

Rafting became popular as a leisure sport since the 70s. Done on rough waters, a group of usually 4 to 6 paddlers take to the rapids and paddle their way downstream.

JC discovered a group of Rafting experts in Brgy. Tuno, Tibiao, Antique. They began the orientation with the proper holding of the oar; place your hands shoulder-width apart with one hand on the “T” and the other about a fist away from the blade.

Safety gear is of utmost importance as well.

During the adventure, paddlers have to dig into the water as much as possible. The challenge is the correct timing of when to row forward or towards the rear to navigate the boat properly.

JC enjoyed the adventure but didn’t find it easy to paddle forward one minute and reverse the next.
