Resume Reminders
Let’s start this with a tip: Start applying for jobs before you even graduate.
With that in mind, we have some reminders from Ms. Kristine Berango on how to make sure your Resume stands out. She’s the Asst. Personnel Manager of the HRDD of GMA Network, Inc. so if you have plans of being Kapuso, read well.
Your Resume should be appropriate to the job you are applying for; there are some trendy and very artsy styles you could use but please reserve that for applications such as: graphic artists or maybe even directors. If you’re applying for a regular desk job, submit a Resume, as you would dress up – decent. Just remember that it is a marketing document.
A 2-page Resume would do, Ms. Berango confesses that HRDD people spend only about 30 seconds to a minute going over your Resume so you have to make sure that the presentation and content would best represent what you have to offer.
This is a list of what they look at:
- Birthdate
- Education
- OJT Experience
- Relevant Seminars attended
- Relevant Skills
- Character References for background checks
As you can see, it’s very basic. They don’t care about a lot of the babble you might think they want to know, all they care about is if you’re the right person for the job…a nice picture would help too.
